November Book Haul

Thursday, 17 December 2015 0 comments

Hey guys! I thought I'd do a little post that amalgamates all of the photos I've put together on Instagram over the past few weeks to document the books I got in the month of November! Now these are a combination of books that I've either bought myself, been given by my blogging friends or have been sent by the wonderful people in the publishing industry! I thought I'd turn this into a monthly segment for my blog so you guys can see the books that I'll be reviewing in the near future, and hopefully this builds up your excitement for them as much as mine!

Now I admit, this book haul is a little bit late purely because I've been away and I haven't had a chance to photograph all of the books that I've received this month. My December book haul might come around a bit earlier than anticipated because of the fact that with moving, I can't take all of my books with me so therefore it might be slightly delayed! Thus, doing it earlier will help me out a great deal! From January you should also expect there to be less books in my book hauls due to the fact that there isn't as much space for books where I'll be going, which is sad.

So without further ado, here are the books that I received in the month of November!

This month, I was super proud of myself because I only bought one book this month. The rest were either sent to me by publishers or received from people. I'm incredibly grateful as per usual. This month I'm hauling 12 books which is an improvement from last time. Only a slight improvement, but still, progress is progress!

For reference, please ignore The Young Elites in the photograph, I realised I hauled this a long time ago after the photograph was taken and I lost the light to be able to take it again. Instead, please replace it in your minds with Carry On by Rainbow Rowell!

STARTING OFF WITH THE BOOKS I WAS SENT/ sent FOR REVIEW THIS MONTH:

This month I was incredibly fortunate because I received 4 books. 3 of which are to review, and one of them I received as part of a book subscription box!

The Island and Illuminae were sent from Rock the Boat - I've already reviewed Illuminae but this final copy was sent to add to my collection. Beautiful Broken Things was sent by Gill over at The Happy Reader (Book Magpie on Twitter) Finally, Wolf by Wolf was the book in the Illumicrate book subscription box!

These are the books I received and their release dates:
  • The Island by Olivia Levez (March 3rd 2015)
  • Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard (February 11th 2016)
  • Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (October 22nd 2015)
  • Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin (November 5th 2015)

MOVING ONTO THE BOOKS I BOUGHT:

This month I was very good and very restrained because I only bought 1 book. To me, that is incredibly impressive!

This particular book was one I had pre-ordered a while back, and that was Winter by Marissa Meyer, the fourth and final instalment in the Lunar Chronicles series, not counting the novellas of course.

If you haven't read any of the Lunar Chronicles books, I highly recommend them.

These are the books I received and their release dates:
  • Winter by Marissa Meyer (November 10th 2015)

MOVING ONTO THE BOOKS I was gifted:

This month I was incredibly fortunate because an author send a signed copy of her latest book to me but I also won two giveaways! One from Rhys at Thirst for Fiction and another from Charnell's at Reviews from a Bookworm.

I can't thank both of these people enough, they're seriously the nicest. Thank you Rhys for Stand Off and Winger, and Charnell for The Wrath and The Dawn, The Rose Society, My True Love Gave to Me and Carry On!

*Once again, please ignore The Young Elites, and instead replace it with Carry On in your mind! I will be referring to it as Carry On below.

These are the books I received and their release dates:
  • The Rose Society by Marie Lu (October 13th 2015)
  • *Carry On by Rainbow Rowell (October 6th 2015)
  • Through the Dark by Alexandra Bracken (October 6th 2015)
  • The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh (May 12th 2015)
  • My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins (November 5th 2015)
  • Winger by Andrew Smith (May 14th 2013)
  • Stand Off by Andrew Smith (September 10th 2015)

So there we have it! All 12 books! I'm super excited about this month's haul. I cannot wait to get around to some of these. Some I have already finished and I can tell you now that they are brilliant. Definitely would recommend Winter and Illuminae!

Let me know what books you guys have recently purchased/received for review etc in the comments below or on any of my social media platforms. I'd love to hear about them! If you have any specific recommendations then definitely let me know, I'm always open to suggestions!

October Book Haul

Monday, 9 November 2015 2 comments

Hey guys! I thought I'd do a little post that amalgamates all of the photos I've put together on Instagram over the past few weeks to document the books I got in the month of October!

So without further ado, here are the books that I received in the month of October!

As per usual, I find myself saying that I was quite fortunate with books this month. I am glad because this month I'm only hauling 13 books this month, and whilst that looks like a lot, in comparison to last month's 27 books, it's actually not horrific, which I'm pleased at!  This month I attended a book signing and YA Shot, a book festival held in Uxbridge, so a lot of these books were obtained in preparation for those! Some of them are actually pre-orders too!

STARTING OFF WITH THE BOOKS I WAS SENT/ sent FOR REVIEW THIS MONTH:

This month, I was sent 5 books for review, and 1 book for donating to Patrick Ness's charity appeal. Not too bad in comparison to last month's review list!

This month I received a care package from Electric Monkey for joining their blogger's list!  I also received a book from Titan Books as well as a graphic novel from Melissa De La Cruz for donating to the charity appeal.

These are the books I received and their release dates:
  • Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith (February 1st 2014)
  • The Alex Crow by Andrew Smith (February 26th 2015)
  • Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant (August 26th 2014)
  • The Tattooed Heart by Michael Grant (September 1st 2015)
  • Blue Bloods Graphic Novel by Melissa De La Cruz (January 15th 2015)
  • Harry Potter: The Character Vault by Jody Reversion (September 25th 2015)

MOVING ONTO THE BOOKS I BOUGHT:

This month I didn't too awfully on buying books, especially considering I was on a book buying ban. So I have 7 books, and I know what you're thinking, I failed didn't I? Well, technically no because 2 of these books were pre-orders and the rest I had bought for YA Shot before I set the ban!

What makes this haul even more special is that 6 of these 7 books are signed and dedicated to me, which is amazing!

These are the books and their release dates:
  • Seed by Lisa Heathfield (April 16th 2015)
  • The Secret Fire by CJ Daugherty and Carina Rozinfeld (September 3rd 2015)
  • The Almost King by Lucy Saxon (June 4th 2015)
  • The Next Together by Lauren James (September 3rd 2015)
  • All of the Above by James Dawson (September 3rd 2015)
  • Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (September 29th 2015)
  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: The Illustrated Edition by J.K.Rowling (October 6th 2015)

So there we have it! 13 books! I think next month I'm definitely going to recline my requesting and book buying habits because with moving in December, I don't want to have to take more books with me than I am already! Thank you to everyone who has sent me books, I do appreciate and read them.

Let me know what books you guys have recently purchased/received for review etc in the comments below or on any of my social media platforms. I'd love to hear about them! If you have any specific recommendations then definitely let me know, I'm always open to suggestions!

September Book Haul

Tuesday, 6 October 2015 0 comments

Hey guys! I thought I'd do a little post that amalgamates all of the photos I've put together on Instagram over the past few weeks to document the books I got in the month of September!

So without further ado, here are the books that I received in the month of September!

Last month I continued my trend by saying I was lucky. This month was beyond that, and frankly I found it to be a little bit crazy! This month I totalled up 27 books and 1 manuscript (which you'll see later.) I honestly don't know where I've found the space for these books but somehow I've managed it. In terms of purchasing books, I don't think I did terribly but I definitely received more than my fair share and I am incredibly grateful! As always, I intend to get to these books as soon as possible (and some of them I already have) but we'll see how that goes.

STARTING OFF WITH THE BOOKS I WAS SENT FOR REVIEW THIS MONTH:

This month was ridiculous. 19 books I received from publishers. 19 books! There are more that I received however as I plan to give them away at some point due to me either already owning copies or have no use for them, I only included the books that will actually stay on my shelves. I cannot express into words how grateful I am for each and everyone of these books, lucky doesn't even cover it.
There are definitely some of my highly anticipated releases of the year in here - including Queen of Shadows, Truthwitch and Library of Souls. I also received an advanced manuscript this month from a publishing house, with the book coming out in 2016!

This month I received books from: Bloomsbury, PGUK, UK Tor, Rock the Boat, Scholastic, Headline, Puffin and Titan Books.

These are the books I received and their release dates:

  • The Secrets of Drearcliffe Grange School by Kim Newman (October 23rd 2015)
  • The Lazarus Gate by Mark A. Latham (October 2nd 2015)
  • Minus Me by Ingelin Rosalind (July 14th 2015)
  • Conversion by Katherine Howe (June 4th 2014)
  • Mindwalker by A.J. Steiger (June 4th 2015)
  • Nest by Esther Ehrlich (July 2nd 2015)
  • George by Alex Gino (August 25th 2015)
  • Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs (September 22nd 2015)
  • Truthwitch by Susan Dennard (January 5th 2016)
  • Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas (September 1st 2015)
  • The Blackthorn Key by Kevin Sands (September 3rd 2015)
  • Apple and Rain by Sarah Crossan (February 12th 2015)
  • When Mr Dog Bites by Brian Monaghan (January 1st 2015)
  • There Will Be Lies by Nick Lake (January 6th 2015)
  • The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski (July 3rd 2014)
  • The Winner's Crime by Marie Rutkoski (March 15th 2015)
  • The Light That Gets Lost by Natasha Carthew (November 5th 2015)
  • Hello, Goodbye and Everything In Between by Jennifer E. Smith (September 1st 2015)
  • The Island by Olivia Levez (April 12th 2016)

MOVING ONTO THE BOOKS I WAS GIVEN BY FRIENDS:

Last month, I got to go to a wonderful blogger's brunch at the Rock the Boat publishing house. Two of my blogger friends (Beth and Andrew) were asking if anyone wanted to take any books off of their hands, and being the generous person I am, I took the plunge and volunteered to ease their burden!

They are both such lovely people! Thank you Andrew and Beth!

These are the books and their release dates:

  • Golden Son by Pierce Brown (January 8th 2015)
  • We Are All Made of Molecules by Susin Neilsen (April 30th 2015)

MOVING ONTO THE BOOKS I BOUGHT:

This month I didn't do too badly on bought books! When I was down in London for the blogger's brunch I bought a book from Foyles and a book from Waterstones Piccadilly! I also treated myself to a graphic novel, a sequel to a book I've been waiting for, a matching sized hardcover, an author's original series and a discounted popular book! I probably could have done without one or two of these books, but they called out to me as per usual!

These are the books and their release dates:

  • Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff (September 1st 2012)
  • End of Days by Susan Ee (May 12th 2015)
  • Asking for It by Louise O'Neill (September 3rd 2015)
  • Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neil (July 3rd 2014)
  • New World: Ashes by Jennifer Wilson (September 18th 2015)
  • Nimona by Noelle Stevenson (May 12th 2015)
  • This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner (December 23rd 2014)
So there we have it! All 28 books! Oh my goodness I really need to slow down. This month I have put myself on a limited book buying ban. Although I am attending YA Shot at the end of the month, so we'll see how that goes! Thank you to everyone who has sent me/ given me books! As always, I really appreciate it! Let's see if I can keep the book haul under 15 next month, shall we? I'm aiming not to request as many books!

Let me know what books you guys have recently purchased/received for review etc in the comments below or on any of my social media platforms. I'd love to hear about them! If you have any specific recommendations then definitely let me know, I'm always open to suggestions!

August Book Haul

Monday, 31 August 2015 0 comments

Hey guys! I thought I'd do a little post that amalgamates all of the photos I've put together on Instagram over the past few weeks to document the books I got in the month of August! Now these are a combination of books that I've either bought myself, have been bought as a gift or have been sent by the wonderful people in the publishing industry! I thought I'd turn this into a monthly segment for my blog so you guys can see the books that I'll be reviewing in the near future, and hopefully this builds up your excitement for them as much as mine!

So without further ado, here are the books that I received in the month of August!

I said last month that I felt extremely lucky because I got some wonderful books for review and picked up some amazing titles from bookstores! This month is no different and I am so ecstatic about one of these books in particular. As I have been away on holiday for 2 weeks of the month, I didn't actually get round to buying that many books, but I did receive some amazing books from review from fantastic publishers, as well as paying postage for some books someone was getting rid of! Some of these books I intend to get to as soon as possible because they're for review, but some I have had on my radar for a while and was glad that I could get them for cheaper than originally intended!

STARTING OFF WITH THE BOOKS I WAS SENT FOR REVIEW THIS MONTH:

As aforementioned I received some wonderful books in the post for review and I am extremely grateful to the publishing houses for sending these my way! Some of these in particular I have had my eye on for a long time and they have been on my most anticipated books of the year.

This month I received books from: Penguin Random House, Harper Collins, Mira Ink and Bloomsbury.

These are the books I received and their release dates:
Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan (6th October 2015)

The Last Ever After (TSOGAE) by Soman Chainani (21st July 2015)

What We Left Behind by Robin Talley (22nd October 2015)

Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (7th April 2015)

Concentr8 by William Sutcliffe (27th August 2015)

MOVING ONTO THE BOOKS I WAS SENT NOT BY PUBLISHING HOUSES:

Similarly to last month I got in contact with someone who was offering up unwanted books for the price of postage. This month I contacted Charnell from Reviews of a Bookworm (link to Twitter here.) Charnell was lovely enough to send these books to me and they're wonderful. I'm so glad I have Sarah Crossan's dystopian series in time for when I meet her in September for her signing!

Charnell is such a wonderful person, you should go check her out!

These are the books I received and their release dates:
Breathe by Sarah Crossan (11th October 2012)

Resist by Sarah Crossan (10th October 2013)

Birdy by Jess Valance (2nd July 2015)

The Improbable Theory of Ana and Zak by Brian Katcher (18th June 2015)

MOVING ONTO THE BOOKS I BOUGHT:

This month while I was down in London I visited Watersones Piccadilly (which were both amazing experiences.) While I was in Waterstones Piccadilly I picked up We Should Hang Out Sometime by Josh Sunquist, a book I have had my eye on forever! I also picked up a signed edition of The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson! I also picked up a Waterstones exclusive edition of The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness, which has an exclusive signed print in the back!

These are the books I bought and their release dates:

The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson (1st January 2015)

We Should Hang Out Sometime by Josh Sunquist (29th January 2015)

The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness (27th August 2015)

So there we have it! All of the books I received this month! 12! Jeez, the same amount as last month - I really need to slow down or I won't have the time to read all of these! All of the people who sent me books are so generous and I cannot thank them enough! I do not deserve all of these but it's kind that you think of me!

Let me know what books you guys have recently purchased/received for review etc in the comments below or on any of my social media platforms. I'd love to hear about them! If you have any specific recommendations then definitely let me know, I'm always open to suggestions!

July Book Haul

Tuesday, 21 July 2015 0 comments
Hey guys! I thought I'd do a little post that amalgamates all of the photos I've put together on Instagram over the past few weeks to document the books I got in the month of July!

So without further ado, here are the books that I received in the month of July!

I feel extremely lucky this month because I received some amazing titles! I don't quite think I've ever anticipated book post as much as I have in the past few weeks. I know I've been running around like a headless chicken trying to gather everything up! Now I feel quite fortunate because I haven't actually purchased any of the books that are in the photo above. Looking back on the month I realise I have bought some books and I've just forgotten to include them, so they will be in next months hall because with being away on holiday etc, I expect the book haul to be a lot smaller than this months! Luckily, a lot of the books featured in this pile I have already started, read or I plan to take on holiday with me, so lots of reviews are coming your way guys if not already here!

Starting off with the books I was sent for review this month:

As I said before, I feel extremely lucky because some of these titles I've had my eye on ever since they were announced, so when I enquired to the various publishing houses about review copies, I was thrilled to be accepted and then watch as they fell through my mailbox in the weeks leading up to now.

This month I received books from: Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, Bloomsbury and Chicken House. I am extremely grateful to them all!

These are the books I have received and their release dates:
Armada by Ernest Cline (16th July 2015)

The Potion Diaries by Amy Alward (2nd July 2015)

Because You'll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas (2nd July 2015)

Killer Game by Kirsty McKay (2nd July 2015)

Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld, Margo Lanagan and Deborah Biancotti (24th September 2015)

One by Sarah Crossan (1st September 2015)

You'll probably notice that some of these books are already published and it's not necessarily because I'm a bad and late reviewer, but more because I requested the books after their publication!

Moving onto the books I was sent not by publishing houses:

The lovely, lovely Cicely from @ciclovesbooks on Twitter (link to her profile here) put up a photo of books she was getting rid of, and did anyone want them. I instantly saw the paperback ARC of Off the Page and The Walled City and dived for the chance, snagging up Between the Lines as well!  I am so grateful to Cicely because even though I offered to pay postage on the books, she sent them to me free of charge. She's such a wonderful person so go and check her out! Share the love!

These are the books I have received and their release dates:

The Walled City by Ryan Craudin (2nd July 2015)

Off the Page by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer (4th June 2015)

Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer (20th June 2013)

I cannot wait to get to these books! I'm so happy that I have the ARC version of Off the Page because the paperback won't come out for at least a year! I'm super excited for The Walled City as well, it's been on my TBR for a while!

Moving onto the books I was bought as gifts:

Now I've got a proof copy of Remix by Non Pratt, but I knew from the cover and also how awesome it is to support such an amazing book, that I wanted to final edition, as well as Trouble. I've also wanted The Baby by Lisa Drakeford since I heard about it. I was out book shopping with my lovely girlfriend, her mum and her aunts and when I went to pay for the books at Waterstones, one of her aunts who I adore dearly offered to pay for the books as a gift. I hesitated but she insisted! She's too kind! I'm spoilt.

These are the books I have received and their release dates:

The Baby by Lisa Drakeford (2nd July 2015)

Trouble by Non Pratt (6th March 2014)

Remix by Non Pratt (4th June 2015)

At present, I've already re-read Remix and I've only just finished Trouble, which I also adored! I cannot wait to get to reading The Baby because it sounds so brilliant! If you haven't head about it, I would definitely check it out!

So there we have it! All of the books I received this month! 12! Jeez! All of the people who sent me/ bought me books are so generous and I cannot thank them enough! I do not deserve all of these but it's kind that you think of me! Obviously I have missed a few out (colouring books and some recent purchases yet to arrive) but I'll put them in next months haul!

Let me know what books you guys have recently purchased/received for review etc in the comments below or on any of my social media platforms. I'd love to hear about them! If you have any specific recommendations then definitely let me know, I'm always open to suggestions!
