Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: The Illustrated Edition by J.K.Rowling
Publication date: October 6th 2015
I don't think I really need to explain why I've ordered this one but I will anyway. I've been a huge fan of the Harry Potter series since my childhood, most like any other person these days. When they announced there was going to be an illustrated edition I jumped at the chance, I mean who wouldn't?!
Queen of Shadow by Sarah J Maas
Publication date: September 1st 2015
Having adored Throne of Glass when it was first released I knew that this was going to be a series I was going to be head over heels in love with. I did a Throne of Glass Re-Readathon not so long ago, finally getting round to Heir of Fire, the third book in the series. Heir of Fire leaves readers on such a dramatic ending that we're all clawing away for the next book. We need to know what happens! September is too far away!
Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
Publication date: September 22nd 2015
I've read the first book in the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children series and I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved the creepy pictures that were dotted about the book and the magical way in which Ransom used them to tell his story. I own the second book, Hollow City but I haven't got round to reading it yet. I'm hoping to receive this book and then do a full marathon of the entire series, re-reading the first book to refresh my memory!
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
Publication date: October 6th 2015
Once again I don't believe this is a book that needs much explanation. If you know me well enough then you will know that I adore anything that Rick Riordan seems to right. I loved the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the Heroes of Olympus spin off and of course the Kane Chronicles. Heck, I even remember being a kid and seeing the advertisement for The Lightning Thief appear on my TV! I rushed to my local bookstore at the time to purchase it on the day of release! Rick is a master of mythology and the way he merges it with the modern day is just so refreshing to read from. Knowing that Rick has always wanted to write a Norse mythology series, and now we have it, you bet I'm pre-ordering that for as soon as it comes out!
Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes by Rick Riordan
Publication date: August 18th 2015
Oh look another Rick Riordan book, what a surprise! However this one isn't a novel so to speak but a collection of Ancient Greek tales about the famous heroes, told from the perspective of our loveable Percy Jackson. For anyone who hasn't read anything from Percy's point of view, please go and pick up The Lightning Thief now, because the way Rick portrays Percy is stunning. He's witty, comical and just overly sarcastic. It's a beautiful combination for a character. Last year Rick released Percy Jackson's Greek Gods and it was a humungous book with the stories of how the Gods came to be from Percy's POV. It also comes with gorgeous illustrations provided by John Rocco. They totally make the book! As the novel is written from a teenager's perspective and is written for middle grade, I have actually used this book in the classroom before to teach about the Gods in a History lesson. It was beautiful and the kids loved it. I cannot wait for this book to be released!
So there you have it! Those are the most recent five books that I have pre-ordered! Obviously these are not all of the books but if I listed all of those with reasons why, I'd be here forever.
Have you pre-ordered any books recently? Let me know in the comments below or over on any of my social media platforms, I'd love to hear about them!
